What it's like

Trinchero Napa Valley sits on Highway 29 just north of St. Helena. The main experience is a hosted, seated tasting built around current-release wines from the Trinchero Napa portfolio, served with small bites. You sit either in the Legacy Lounge or outside when the weather allows, so it is more of a structured session than a drop-in pour.

Who it's best for

Couples and small groups who want something relaxed and a little polished, with food on the table. It is a sensible choice if you are building a day around two or three appointments and want one that includes a bite. Groups of up to six fit the format.

What to book

The Legacy Tasting Experience is $95 per person and runs roughly two hours. It is a wine flight paired with small bites, and reservations are required for every visit. The winery also says it can arrange custom experiences beyond what is listed; the concierge number above is the place to ask if you have a bigger group or a special occasion in mind.

It is open every day, 10 am to 5 pm. As the visit takes about two hours, choose a start time that leaves room before your next stop.

This is wine country, so plan your driving: a designated driver, a rideshare or a hired tour makes the day easier.

How it fits into a day

A late-morning booking works well, followed by lunch in St. Helena. Because the tasting includes bites but is not a meal, plan to eat afterward. From here you can head north toward Calistoga or south toward Rutherford and Oakville, where Far Niente and others are a short drive away. If you have a second appointment the same afternoon, leave a buffer for Highway 29 traffic.
