What it's like
Raymond is less a quiet tasting room than a small set of themed spaces. There is the Theater of Nature, a free outdoor demonstration of the estate's organic and Biodynamic farming; a red-lit room with velvet curtains; a private lounge designed by owner Jean-Charles Boisset; and a main salon looking over the vines. It is theatrical on purpose, and it is easy to enjoy even if you are not deep into wine.
Who it's best for
Groups with mixed interests, first-time visitors, and anyone who wants something to do besides sit and sip. Families with curious kids can usually find something to look at in the grounds, though check the booking details for any age rules on a given experience. People who want a straight Cabernet tasting in a calm room may prefer the simpler flights.
What to book
Everything is reserved through Tock. A sampling of what is listed:

Plan your transport: a designated driver, rideshare or a guided tour keeps the day relaxed.
How it fits into a day
Book one of the longer experiences as your anchor, since several take over an hour. Raymond is in Rutherford, so it pairs naturally with other stops along Highway 29, and with lunch in St. Helena or Yountville. Check the current hours and the exact address on their site before you leave.
