What it's like

Round Pond is as much about food as wine. Alongside the Cabernet-focused tastings, the estate makes olive oil, and you can taste that too, including options without alcohol. Tastings come with small plates from the estate chef, and the setting has vineyard views.

The Portfolio Estate Tasting is the entry point at $60 per guest, a selection of current releases from the Rutherford region. The Artisan Estate Tasting is $95 per guest, with limited-production wines, a gourmet plate and vineyard views. Cabernet Collectors Experience is $125, Vino & Olio is $155 and the Il Pranzo four-course pairing, with a short winery tour first, is $250 per guest. The Olive Oil Discovery Tasting is $60 per guest, and the Gourmet Olive Oil Experience is $95.

Who it's best for

Food-minded visitors, couples who want a long lunch-style experience, and anyone who drinks less or not at all, since the olive oil tastings have no alcohol. Guests must be 21 or older, and pets are not allowed.

What to book

The winery is open by appointment, Wednesday through Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM. Reserve ahead through the visit page. The four-course Il Pranzo works as a meal in itself, so plan it as lunch rather than a quick stop. Club members receive complimentary access to select experiences. Plan a designated driver, rideshare or tour, particularly for the longer pairing experiences.

How it fits into a day

Round Pond is just off Rutherford Road, close to Honig and Alpha Omega. A morning Artisan tasting followed by a second Rutherford stop works well, or use the Il Pranzo as the midday anchor and skip a separate lunch.
