What it's like
Alpha Omega is built around its terrace. Tastings take place outdoors with views of fountains, vineyards and the Mayacamas Mountains, or inside the modern farmhouse-style tasting room. You choose a flight when you arrive, and the pace is unhurried at about 90 minutes.
Terrace Tasting starts from $75 per person. The indoor tasting room runs $75 to $125 per person, with Signature, Curated and Single Vineyard flights to choose from. Private Tasting starts from $200 per person for two hours with a dedicated wine educator and gourmet cheese, for up to 10 guests.
Who it's best for
Small groups who want a view and some room to talk. The choice of flights helps mixed groups where some want a lighter tasting and others want single-vineyard Cabernet. Groups of nine or more can ask about a personalized group tasting with cheese pairings.
What to book
Open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, with last seating at 4:30 PM. Tastings seat up to eight guests, with a private room for up to ten. Bottle service and picnics are reserved for wine club members. Call (707) 963-9999 or book through the experiences page. Check the current menu and times on their site before you go.
Arrange a designated driver, rideshare or tour. Mee Lane is a short drive off the main road but you will want a sober ride home.
How it fits into a day
Alpha Omega's later hours make it a good last tasting of the day, though note the 4:30 last seating. Pair it with a morning at Honig, Round Pond or Mumm Napa nearby, then head to St. Helena or Yountville for dinner.
