Napa Valley wineries with the best views

Some of the valley's most memorable tastings happen on a terrace above the vines. Mountain estates on Howell, Spring and Diamond Mountain look out over forested ridges; hillside wineries along the Silverado Trail face west across the valley floor toward the Mayacamas. These wineries are known for their setting. Book an outdoor seat when you reserve, and aim for late afternoon if you want the light at its best.

24 wineries, ranked by guest rating. Details checked against each winery's own site.

Tips before you go

  • Request outdoor seating when you book; views are often terrace-only.
  • Late-afternoon slots get the best light, especially in fall.
  • Mountain roads are winding: one hillside stop per half-day is plenty.
