What it's like

Pine Ridge is on Silverado Trail in the Stags Leap District and is open every day from 10am to 4pm. The tasting menu covers several moods. The entry point is the Estate Tasting, a seated 60-minute flight at $60 per person for up to six guests, held in the tasting room.

The caves are the draw for a lot of visitors. The Cabernet Cave Tasting is a semi-private, seated 60-minute session at $85 per person, and the Cellar 47 Cave Tour and Tasting runs 90 minutes at $125 per person, named after the 47 acres the estate farms in the district. Weekend visitors can also book the Explorer's Tour and Tasting, a two-hour walk from vineyard to cave at $125 per person. The cave experiences are for guests 21 and older.

Who it's best for

A good fit for groups where not everyone wants a full tasting. The Garden View Seating option is a self-paced, bottle-only experience that is described as pet friendly and suitable for children, weather permitting, which makes it one of the easier stops in the valley if you are traveling with family or a dog. Cabernet drinkers who like to see how a cave works will get the most from the tour options.

What to book

Book on Tock; reservations are strongly encouraged and fill quickly, particularly on weekends. Choose the Estate Tasting for something simple, a cave experience if you want a longer sit-down, or garden seating if you just want a bottle and some air. Club members have their own lounge tasting and discounted rates.

Plan a designated driver, rideshare or hired driver; Silverado Trail is a busy road in the afternoon.

How it fits into a day

Pine Ridge is a comfortable first or second stop on a Silverado Trail day. Pair it with Clos du Val, Chimney Rock or Silverado Vineyards nearby, and head toward Yountville or Napa for dinner.
