R+D Kitchen is a relaxed, light-filled restaurant at the northern end of Yountville's main street, part of a small group with other locations in Dallas, Newport Beach and Santa Monica. The feel is smart but convivial, with a bar and a patio that is popular on warm days.

Couples and small groups who want a casual, polished meal without a long commitment. It is a good fit for a midday stop or a flexible dinner, and the patio makes it a comfortable choice when the weather is good. It is less suited to large parties, since the restaurant favors smaller tables.

Reservations go through the Wisely system linked from the Yountville page. Walk-ins are welcome for parties of two; for three or more, availability can be limited, so book ahead. Hours as listed: Monday to Thursday 11:30am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday 11am to 9:30pm, and Sunday 11am to 9pm. The dress code allows hats in the bar and on the patio when worn in the traditional manner.

How it fits into a day

Its all-day hours make it an easy anchor between morning and afternoon plans. After a meal, you can stroll Washington Street, browse the shops and galleries, or head up the valley toward Oakville and Rutherford. If you plan to enjoy wine with your meal, arrange a designated driver or rideshare, or stay nearby so you can walk back.
