What it's like
Barnett Vineyards sits roughly 2,000 feet up Spring Mountain, and the main reason to go is the panorama over the valley with the estate-grown wines in your glass. It is a focused tasting: a guided session rather than a casual pour. The altitude and the drive up make it feel like a separate outing from the valley floor.
Who it's best for
Cabernet drinkers who want a view and a quiet, hosted format. It suits couples and small groups. Parties of seven or more should reach out to the office for availability and pricing rather than booking directly.
What to book
Booking is online through Tock.
- The Tasting Experience, $125 per person: a guided flight of five current-release wines. Offered daily at 10:00 am, 12:00 pm and 3:00 pm. Tasting fees are complimentary for Wine Society Members, up to four guests.
- Library Tasting, $175 per person: three library wines alongside current releases, offered Thursday to Saturday at 10:00 am only. Society members pay $75 per person, up to four guests.
They also take virtual tasting inquiries if you cannot make the trip.
The road up is steep and winding. Plan a designated driver, a private car or a tour rather than relying on a rideshare for the return.
How it fits into a day
The three start times give you room to choose: a 10 am visit leaves the rest of the day open, while the 3 pm slot works as a late-afternoon finish. It sits among other Spring Mountain producers such as Pride Mountain and Smith-Madrone. Because the road is slow, keep your plan simple and have lunch back in St. Helena. Check their site for the exact address before you set your navigation.
